What is a live feed production system?
It is the equipment hatcheries use to hatch and grow live foods such as Artemia (brine shrimp) and rotifers for fish and shrimp larvae. Conical vessels, aeration and valves make hatching and harvesting simple and repeatable.
Why are Artemia hatching vessels cone-shaped?
The cone keeps cysts circulating with aeration so they hatch evenly, and lets you drain newly hatched nauplii cleanly from the bottom while empty shells float to the top.
What conditions give the best hatch rate?
Most Artemia cysts hatch well at around 28°C, in seawater of about 25 to 35 ppt, with strong aeration, a pH around 8 and constant light. Hatching usually takes 18 to 24 hours.
What does your standard unit include?
Four 18.5-litre vessels on one table, each with its own valve and camlock for collection and drainage. Larger setups can be configured for your production.
How many nauplii will I get?
Yield depends on cyst quality, hatching conditions and your protocol, so no fixed output can be promised. Good cysts under good conditions hatch a high percentage within a day.
