Catalogue maximum flow and listed water volume are comparison values. Final selection also depends on solids and feed loading, biological media, aeration and available hydraulic head. UV listings show watts per lamp × quantity; they are not the total electrical load or a validated disinfection dose.
Plan the Pro Series CRDF installation
A pump feeds the combined treatment unit. Drum screening and automatic washing handle retained solids, while the biological chambers provide the agreed media arrangement. The catalogue lists three UV lamps for each Pro model; treatment performance also depends on flow, water UV transmittance and the selected lamp system.
Allow for the Pro model’s own footprint and connection sizes rather than using the corresponding standard CRDF dimensions. Review feed-pump duty, return levels, drain routing, service access and electrical requirements before finalising the installation.
Hydraulics
Check peak filter flow, operating water levels, pipe friction and pump-stop behaviour.
Biological treatment
Review the media, aeration and feed-load basis independently of the catalogue water-volume listing.
Utilities and service
Provide wash water, drainage, electrical isolation and space to maintain the drum, pumps and UV lamps.
Pro Series CRDF FAQs
What makes the Pro Series CRDF different?
Pro Series units are pump-fed combi filters with a three-lamp UV arrangement, so they deliver more UV at each flow size than our standard Pump Feed models. They are aimed at heavily stocked koi ponds and systems where water clarity matters most.
Which models are in the Pro Series?
There are six: Pro CRDF-10, Pro CRDF-15, Pro CRDF-25, Pro CRDF-35, Pro CRDF-50 and Pro CRDF-100, rated from 10 to 100 m³/h.
When is it worth choosing Pro over the standard Pump Feed range?
Choose Pro if you keep a dense stock of fish, get recurring green water in hot months, or run a display pond where clarity is the priority. For lightly stocked ponds the standard range is usually enough.
Does more UV harm the fish?
No. UV only acts on water passing through the lamp chamber, and fish never come into contact with it. It reduces free-floating algae and pathogens in that water and has no effect on the fish themselves.
How do I size a Pro Series filter?
Choose by flow rate, the same as the other combi filters. Send us your pond volume, pump and pipework details and fish load, and we'll confirm the model.
