Catalogue maximum flow and listed water volume are comparison values. Final selection also depends on solids and feed loading, biological media, aeration and available hydraulic head. UV listings show watts per lamp × quantity; they are not the total electrical load or a validated disinfection dose.
Plan the Pump Feed CRDF installation
A pond or system pump supplies the filter. The drum screen retains suspended particles, the wash system sends captured solids to waste, and water continues through the biological chambers before returning to the system. Plan the outlet route around the actual filter and pond levels.
Position the filter on a level, load-bearing base and coordinate its elevation with the return route. Size the feed pump at the real operating head; do not use its zero-head flow as the filter duty. Provide an unrestricted waste drain, wash-water supply and safe electrical isolation.
Hydraulics
Check peak filter flow, operating water levels, pipe friction and pump-stop behaviour.
Biological treatment
Review the media, aeration and feed-load basis independently of the catalogue water-volume listing.
Utilities and service
Provide wash water, drainage, electrical isolation and space to maintain the drum, pumps and UV lamps.
Pump Feed CRDF FAQs
What is a pump-fed combi drum filter?
It is a combi filter supplied by a pump in the pond. The unit can sit at or above pond level, so you don't need a bottom drain or deep excavation. Water is screened, treated biologically and passed under UV before it returns to the pond.
Which models are in the Pump Feed range?
There are eight: CRDF-3, CRDF-5, CRDF-10, CRDF-15, CRDF-25, CRDF-35, CRDF-50 and CRDF-100. The number is the maximum flow in m³/h, so CRDF-25 handles up to 25 m³/h.
Can I add a pump-fed combi filter to my existing pond?
Yes, that is what it's made for. You need a pump sized to the filter, a level spot next to the pond for the unit and a drain point for the wash water. No pond rebuild is required.
What kind of pump should I use with it?
Use a pump that delivers the filter's rated flow at your actual pipe length and lift, and fit a basket strainer or pre-filter in front of it so leaves don't jam the impeller. Avoid oversizing, because pushing more than the rated flow through the screen makes it wash constantly.
Will it work for a quarantine or holding system?
Yes. The smaller CRDF-3 and CRDF-5 models are popular for quarantine and holding tanks, where you want strong filtration and UV on a small water volume.
